Monthly Meeting April 8, 2019

7:00 PM

Present: Commissioners Gregorio, Darling, Bartolotta, and Thazhampallath; Chief Howley, Fire Department members and members of the public.
Absent: Commissioner Kleckowski

  1. CALL TO ORDER Chairman Gregorio called the meeting to order at 7:23 p.m.

  2. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE was recited.

  3. OPEN PUBLIC SESSION Chairman Gregorio opened the Public Session at 7:24 p.m.

    Daniel Penney

    Mr. Penney approached the podium to offer public feedback on a number of his and other's general concerns and to provide positive opportunities for improvement for consideration by the SFD Commission. Before Mr. Penney spoke, he was told by Chairman Gregorio that he could only speak about items on the agenda, following Roberts Rules. Mr. Penney asked if this was a new practice and Commissioner Bartolotta informed him that it's always been that way. With the restrictions, Mr. Penney was unable to offer any further comment.

  4. CLOSE PUBLIC SESSION Chairman Gregorio closed the Public Session at 7:26 p.m.

  5. MINUTES TO BE APPROVED
    A) Budget Workshop of March 11, 2019 and Regular Meeting of March 11, 2019
    MOTION to approve the minutes of the March 11, 2019 budget workshop and the March 11, 2019 regular meeting by Comm. Bartolotta/ Comm. Darling. Unanimously approved.

  6. TAX COLLECTOR'S REPORT was reviewed by the Commission.
    A) TAX REBATES
    MOTION to approve tax rebates to various taxpayers in the amount of $1,028.88 by Comm. Darling/Comm. Bartolotta. Unanimously approved.

    B) The Commission reviewed the Tax Collector's report submitted by Tax Collector Cindy Gotta.

    MOTION to approve the Tax Collector's Report by Comm. Thazhampallath/Comm. Bartolotta. Unanimously approved.

  7. MONTHLY FINANCIAL REPORTS were reviewed by the Commission.
    MOTION to approve the Monthly Financial Reports by Comm. Thazhampallath/Comm. Bartolotta. Unanimously approved.

  8. CHIEF'S REPORT/ACTING DEPUTY CHIEF'S REPORT/DEPUTY FIRE MARSHAL'S REPORT
    The Commission reviewed the reports submitted by Chief Howley, Acting Deputy Chief Trzaski, and Deputy Fire Marshal Mastroianni.

    MOTION to approve the Chief's report, the Acting Deputy Chief's report, and the Deputy Fire Marshal's report by Comm. Darling/Comm. Thazhampallath. Unanimously approved.

  9. COMMISSIONER'S REPORT
    PUBLIC SAFETY TELECOMMUNICATIONS
    Commissioner Darling gave a brief overview of the Public Safety Telecommunications meeting.

  10. OLD BUSINESS None

  11. NEW BUSINESS
    A. VOTING MACHINES - CHIEF HOWLEY
    Chief Howley informed the Commission that we are down to one very old voting machine. He will look into using the City's electronic voting machine, the timing of having the ballots printed, and the cost involved.

  12. ADJOURNMENT
