Details of 2009 Open House Announced

The South Fire District will be holding its annual Open House on Saturday, October 3rd, 2009, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.

The Open House is held in conjunction with Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 4 - 10, 2009. The theme of Fire Prevention week this year is: "Stay Fire Smart; Don't Get Burned".

A few of this year's events include:

• Vehicle extrication demonstration

• Residential sprinkler and live burn demonstration

• Kitchen cooking safety demonstration

• Firefighter maze trailer

• Amber Alert registrations, courtesy of the Middletown Rotary

• Middletown Fire Department's Smoke house

• Antique Fire Apparatus

• Sparky the Fire Dog

And there will be displays by:

• Middletown Emergency Management

• CT State Police

• CT Urban Search and Rescue

• Hunters Ambulance

• Middlesex Hospital

• Many more

Additional parking is available at the lower parking lot of Xavier High School located off Paddock Road. Free shuttle service is being provided by MAT.
